Michael leads Tax Recourse LLC., and was responsible for the original formation of the alliance.  He has over twenty five years of experience in commercial real estate and ad valorem tax representation.  Michael began his career as an assistant appraiser, becoming Generally Certified in the state of New Jersey in 1994.  He has held positions throughout his career in both the Property Tax Consultant field, such as a Senior Property Tax Consultant for Deloitte & Touche, LLP, as well as the Corporate Tax field, holding the position of Manager of Property Tax for Toys “R” Us, Inc.  Having worked on both sides Michael is uniquely positioned to understand the needs of the commercial client, as well as holding the skills necessary to provide long term tax saving strategies.  Throughout his career he has and continues to represent clients with large commercial portfolios, such as, Toys “R” Us, Cafaro, Home Depot, and Brixmor Properties.  Michael’s extensive experience in property tax consulting both locally and nationally, has developed him as an expert in negotiating values, and identifying long term tax saving strategies for commercial property owners.  Since 2004, he has held the position of a Senior Executive, continuing to directly manage the appeal process for Clients as well as, managing all aspects of valuation and appeal operations at a regional level and company wide.  Michael is a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in New Jersey, and is a registered Senior Property Tax Consultant with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

Marissa C. Sweet - Executive Vice President
Marissa manages over the day to day operations at Tax Recourse, LLC.  In addition, she leads the sales and marketing team at Tax Recourse, LLC. She has an experienced background in sales and marketing for over 10 plus years. She emphasizes and maintains each of her clients receive superior customer service and a customized approach to their target goals. Marissa currently has relationships with clients totaling over $200 million in property value portfolios. She graduated from the University of Houston in 2008 with a double major in Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Management. Her main areas of study were valuation and risk management. She also completed a university accredited Spanish based study abroad program to expand her horizons while living in Spain. Marissa is a licensed Property Tax Consultant, a licensed appraiser apprentice in the state of Texas, and a licensed real estate agent. She is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and a proud supporter of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. 

Derrick Dyslin - Vice President of Appeals
Derrick manages the appeals team at Tax Recourse, LLC. He has over 14 years of experience in all phases of real and personal property assessment, including appeals board representation, testimony, and tax exemptions. His experience includes both real and personal property. He ensures each of Tax Recourse, LLC.'s clients receive a thorough property valuation and review no matter the size of the property. Derrick spent several years with Deloitte Tax, as a Senior Tax Consultant in the complex property tax group. While at Deloitte, Derrick was part of the team for the California state-wide airline industry settlement, which created new law for the assessment of commercial aircraft that codified a method for quantifying economic obsolescence.  Derrick graduated from UC Berkeley in 2001 with a B.A. in American Studies, with an emphasis in Real Estate and Finance. Additional education includes Wichita State University Appraisal for Ad Valorem Taxation, Intermediate Real Property Tax School, Intermediate Personal Property Tax School, Institute for Professionals in Taxation, and Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals.  Derrick is a licensed Property Tax Consultant in Texas and Arizona, and is currently a CMI candidate with IPT.
